8th November 2018 – LEADER Funding Closed Call for Subtheme 3: Development of Renewable Energy is now open (Theme: Rural Environment)

Introduction

The Local Action Group for LEADER in Mayo invites Expression of Interest (EOI) under Local Objective 9 of the Local Development Strategy to support the Development of Renewable Energy Projects in County Mayo. The  sub-theme focuses on investment initiatives/technologies which mitigate against the impact of climate change, reduce carbon emissions and enhance local energy independence. It also recognises the need to promote the use of micro-renewables such as solar thermal, photovoltaic, heat pumps and storage systems.

Overall budget: €231,649

What can be funded?

  • Support for installation of Solar Thermal, Solar Electric (Photovoltaic), and Heat Pumps in community buildings and enterprises.
  • Support for Feasibility Studies in relation to renewable energy technologies for community buildings and enterprises.
  • Energy Audits for community groups and enterprises.

What can’t be funded?

  • Projects with other sources of available funding, such as SEAI.
  • Work that falls under the remit of Mayo County Council.

Who can be funded?

  • Community and Voluntary Groups.
  • Eligible Businesses (≤20 employees and ≤€4 million annual turnover).

Application process:          

There is a two stage process:

  • Stage 1: Complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to find out if your proposal meets the objectives of County Mayo’s Local Development Strategy and complies with the LEADER programme guidelines.
  • Stage 2: EOIs that are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to submit a full application with the required supporting documents. Invitation to application stage does not mean that you will be awarded grant aid as this is a competitive process with limited funding.

Proposed timeline:            

  • EOI Stage 1: The call opens on Thursday, 1st November 2018. You must submit your EOI on or before Friday, 30th November 2018. If you submit an EOI, you will get a letter or an email with details of the outcome of your EOI.
  • Application Stage 2: If you are successful at Stage 1, you must submit your application form and all supporting documents on or before Thursday, 28th February 2019.

If you are interested in applying for this funding, we strongly encourage you to contact your local LEADER Implementing or Animating Partner to have an informal chat about your project. However, this is optional and you can submit an Expression of Interest without contacting us first.

18th April 2017 – LEADER Funding Closed Call for Basic Services Targeted at Hard to Reach Communities – Playgrounds is now open

Mayo Local Action Group for LEADER invites Expression of interest of (EOI) under Objective 5 of the Local Development Strategy to support the development of community facilities for targeted services for hard to reach communities. The sub-theme focuses on improving access to basic services for people living in rural and remote areas and groups who are at risk of social exclusion. Funding under this call will be allocated to projects that support capital investment for the development and enhancement of playgrounds.

What kind of projects can be supported?

  •  Development of a new playground facility
  • Upgrading and or extension of an existing facility.

What cannot be supported?

  • Projects with other sources of available funding.
  • Work that fall under the remit of Mayo County Council.
  • Projects that could displace existing facilities.
  • Projects that do not display a capacity to meet future running costs for the maintenance of the facility and provide adequate public liability insurance.

Overall budget:  €422,247.00      

Note: This is a competitive closed funding call,  under which applications must be submitted within a limited timeframe. Applicants for funding under this call must complete and submit an:  Expression of Interest Form (EOI) by 3pm on Friday, 12th May 2017.

18th April 2017 – LEADER Funding Closed Call for Rural Youth now open

Mayo Local Action Group for LEADER invites Expression of interest of (EOI) under Objective 6 of the Local Development Strategy to support strategic interventions to provide services and facilities for young people. The Rural Youth (aged 15-35)  sub-theme (under Theme 2: Social Inclusion) which is the basis of this targeted call is for project proposals, focuses on the capital investment in youth clubs/cafes and arts.  

What kind of projects can be supported?

  • Development of new youth facilities
  • Upgrading and or extension of an existing facility (examples include youth clubs/cafés; improved access to ICT and arts-based projects).

What cannot be supported?

  • Projects with other sources of available funding.
  • Projects that could displace existing facilities.
  • Projects that do not display a capacity to meet future running costs for maintenance of the facility and adequate public liability insurance.
  • Recreational activities and sports facilities such as skating parks, MUGAs, etc.

Overall budget:   182,694.00

21st February 2017 – LEADER Funding Call for Broadband and ICT projects now open

Mayo Local Action Group wishes to announce a funding call for Broadband and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) projects under the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2014-2020.

Increased access to reliable and high-speed broadband is vital for the economic and social development of County Mayo. High-quality broadband enables businesses to set-up or continue to be based in rural areas, by overcoming barriers relating to access to markets and services. There is also a potential to create new jobs as access to broadband can support businesses to grow.

This funding call supports local actions that complement national initiatives aimed at developing a comprehensive rural broadband infrastructure. However, this funding call cannot duplicate any interventions that are proposed under the National Broadband Plan.

What kind of projects can be supported?

      • Innovative pilot projects.
      • Small-scale broadband equipment (such as boosters).
      • Small-scale infrastructure to allow businesses and communities to access broadband.

Important: Even if your Broadband/ICT project does not appear on the list, it may still be eligible.

What cannot be supported?

      • Most broadband infrastructure, as this is covered under the National Broadband Plan.

16th February 2017 – LEADER Funding Call for Rural Towns open

Mayo Local Action Group wishes to announce a funding call for Rural Towns under the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2014-2020.

Funding under this call will be allocated to projects that support the enhancement of rural towns and contribute to making them a more attractive place to live, recreate and do business.

This call will fund projects to develop:

      • Streetscape enhancement.
      • Tidy Town initiatives.
      • Maintenance/Restoration/Upgrade of built environment in town & villages.
      • Development of recreational spaces (excluding playgrounds).

Note: this is a closed call,  under which applications must be submitted within a limited timeframe. Applicants for funding under this call must complete and submit an:  Expression of Interest Form (EOI) by Friday 31st March 2017.

There will be an information evening and clinic held in Castlebar Tennis Club on Tuesday 28th February at 8:15pm.

26th January 2017 – LEADER Tourism Accommodation & Ancillary Services Funding Call open

Mayo LCDC Local Action Group wishes to announce a funding call for Tourism Accommodation and Ancillary Services under the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2014-2020.

This call sets out to encourage innovation, and to support the sustainable development of tourism accommodation, and accommodation experiences, throughout Mayo.

Projects must add value to an existing accommodation product or seek to convert buildings for the following accommodation types:

      • B&Bs
      • Self-catering Accommodation
      • Hostels
      • Motorhome Parking Facilities
      • Caravan and Camping Parks
      • New Innovative Accommodation Types
      • New additional services for accommodations e.g. drying rooms

Applicants for funding under this funding call must complete and submit:
1. An Expression of Interest Form (EOI)
2. Tourism Accommodation Funding Call Information Form 

by Friday 24th February 2017.

30th August 2016 – LEADER in Mayo is now open

The LEADER programme in Mayo is now OPEN and €8.2m of funding is available over the next four years to individual and community-led projects that promote social inclusion, poverty reduction, economic development and environmental initiatives in rural areas. 20th July 2016 – contract signed for LEADER in Mayo 

Moy Valley Resources IRD is delighted to announce that the contract for County Mayo’s Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2014-2020 has now been signed.

We are working with our partners in Mayo County Council, Mayo North East LEADER Partnership, South West Mayo and Comhar na nOiléain Teo over the coming weeks to finalise the systems for delivering LEADER in Mayo, with a view to starting the programme in early September.

Moy Valley Resources will have a full-time Community Development Officer working from our offices to assist with project applications.

We are planning a series of LEADER  information events across the Ballina Municipal District in early September. Details of locations, dates and times will be available soon. If you have a project in mind, please feel free to contact Corina or Kim in Moy Valley Resources on 096 70905.
