Assistant Community Employment Supervisor

Hours:   39 hours (Monday to Friday)

Salary: Department of Social Protection, CE Supervisor scale. Pay scale as per Community Employment Supervisor rates of pay – 2 incremental points.

The Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the CE Supervisor with the efficient day to day running of the CE Project in conjunction with the Sponsors of the CE Scheme. The role will involve:

  • To supervise CE Participants in their daily roles
  • To support and coach CE Participants towards gaining the skills and competencies in preparation for employment.
  • Maintaining financial and other records in both written and computerised formats
  • To ensure compliance with the financial audit requirements of the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection
  • Administration of the CE Scheme and promotion of the benefits of Community Employment
  • To develop Individual Learning Plans in preparation for employment
  • Liaise with employers for the work placement and employment of participants.
  • Liaise with community groups seeking support through CE.
  • To support and coach CE Participants towards gaining the skills and competencies in preparation for employment.

Key Requirements

Understanding of the role of the Community Employment Supervisor as it pertains to project management and programme delivery to long-term unemployed and vulnerable adults.

  • Minimum Experience Required; 3 years of supervisory and people management work experience relevant to the post (i.e., administration, project management, training or other
  • In-depth understanding of Business, Administration Management, Project Management, Financial Management, and ICT skills.
  • Applicants must have a full clean driving licence.
  • Effective communicator and competent report writing as well as the capability to direct, motivate, coach and mentor jobseekers.
  • Ability to work under the direction of IRD North Mayo West Sligo for the effective implementation of the CE programme in line with the CE Operational procedures.
  • Meet targets and to organise projects and events on behalf of IRD North Mayo West Sligo
