
About Moy Valley Resources
IRD North Mayo West Sligo Ltd, trading as Moy Valley Resources IRD is a not for profit registered charity and was established to facilitate the economic and social development of the Moy Valley Region in Mayo and Sligo.
As a social enterprise and community development company, Moy Valley Resources IRD delivers a range of rural, social and economic programmes and services at local level in the North Mayo and West Sligo region, supporting communities, individuals and businesses to increase their economic sustainability and improve their quality of life.
What we do
Examples of our projects include the following:
- The Moy Valley Community Employment Scheme, which is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed (or otherwise disadvantaged) to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities
- Mayo North Tourism, a community-led destination marketing and development initiative designed to develop and promote North Mayo as a tourism destination
- Craoibhín Ballina, a drop-in social inclusion club for people of all ages to socialise and partake in activities. The club also offers a bus service for members.
- Mayo Volunteer Centre, part of a national network of volunteer centres that aims to match volunteers with volunteering opportunities and supports both organisations and volunteers to connect
- Office space and hot desking space for SMEs in Greenhills Enterprise Centre, Bunree
- Venue hire at Kennedy Glasgow House, The Quay
- Property management and self-storage services
Role Description
How we communicate with the public is important to us, and Moy Valley Resources IRD is seeking a Communications Assistant to work with the management team across a range of initiatives including social media, content creation, media relations, PR, event management and internal communications.
Duties may include (but not be limited to) assisting the management team with the following:
- Managing, creating content for social media platforms and measuring campaigns
- Basic website updates
- Writing press releases, leaflets, brochures, newsletters, reports
- Ensuring consistent branding across all company communications
- Contributing to marketing and communications plans that help highlight our services
- Supporting with events the company may run
- Working on internal communication within the company
- Some administration duties
- Working with third parties – suppliers, media etc
What’s required for this position
- Fluency in English
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to plan and manage a varied workload
- Creativity and an ability to identify opportunities that will positively highlight the work of the company
Desirable for this position
- Some experience in a marketing related / administrative role
- An understanding of print, broadcast, radio and social media and skilled in using new media and technology to promote a message or campaign
- Experience in creating content for websites and social media campaigns
- A passion for community development
