Community Employment

The Moy Valley Resources Community Employment (CE) programme is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed (or otherwise disadvantaged) to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities.

The aim of CE is to enhance the employability and mobility of disadvantaged and unemployed persons by providing work experience and training opportunities for them within their communities. In addition, it helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return-to-work routine.

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection support sponsor groups such as Moy Valley Resources in creating and developing schemes.  Moy Valley Resources are also supported by our Local INTREO Office in Ballina, who provide us with potential participants interested in joining our CE Scheme.

Moy Valley Resources provide various work experience opportunities both internally and externally using sub-sponsor agreements.

If you are more of an outdoor person there are caretaking and gardening positions.  Alternatively, if as a potential participant you would prefer to work indoors there are opportunities to work in administration or as a support worker.

And there is more: currently, Moy Valley Resources are supporting the following local community groups

But we are hopeful, that we will have some new sub-sponsors and roles coming online very soon.  Please keep an eye on the Jobs Ireland website for all CE placements available in Mayo.

Training opportunities are key to successful time spent on any CE scheme.  Here in Ballina, we are very fortunate to have MSLETB, Ballina on our doorstep. Moy Valley Resources collaborate with the Ballina Training Centre co-ordinators to ensure our participants are getting their training requirements here in town.  In addition to the MSLETB website there is another very useful resource called This website provides a comprehensive listing of all training available locally but also nationally and online.  Or there are courses available to eligible participants to enroll on SpringBoard+
