Frosty Salmon Festival 2013 @ Christmas Quarter
Dec 7 – Dec 24 all-day

We are delighted to say here at Moy Valley Resources IRD,  we are doing our part for the Frosty Salmon Festival in Ballina this year.   The Festival runs from the 7th to the 24th of December.  It will ensure that the North Mayo Capital is the best place to capture the Christmas spirit this year. The Frosty Salmon Festival has many seasonal highlights from Moy on Ice to the Mistletoe Markets and an amazing array of other events.

Moy on Ice is a state of the art Ice rink and will be open daily from December 7th until December 31st.  The Ice rink which is the largest ever to be located in Ballina will host a range of other unique festive performances and events over the duration of the festival. This includes Santa’s Grotto with Santa and his helpful elves making Ballina their Headquarters until December 24th.

Mistletoe Market is a European style Christmas market which will bring Ballina back to its historic market town origins and will boast a range of local, traditional crafts and artisan foods. The markets will take place on the 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd of December.

A Christmas Grinch which was spotted by local shopkeepers recently will be hunted and deported from the Town on the 12th of December by a task force of local children and law enforcement agencies.  The Grinch Hunt, which is a treasure hunt with a festive twist promises great fun for all the family and boasts some great prizes.

The festival will culminate in a dramatic send-off of Santa and the Elves on Christmas Eve from Market Square. Santa will be airlifted by Helicopter from Ballina to meet his reindeer who are currently grazing on top of Nephin Mor mountain. All Children are asked to be in the Market Square for 2pm to wish Santa well on his long day of delivering presents around the world.

The festival also boasts a host of concerts; carol singing, street performances at various venues and late night shopping for those last minute gifts.

The Frosty Salmon Festival is not to be missed and one that every family will want to experience as the highlight of the Christmas calendar.

The Frosty Salmon is an initiative of the Ballina Chamber of Commerce incorporating the entire Business Community in Ballina. Further information is available from Ballina Chamber of Commerce 096 72800 or http://www.northmayo.com/ballina-christmas-festival/
